I SUPPORT Richard Hadley’s call for a traffic plan for Ledbury.

In addition to the concerns he raised (Ledbury Reporter, January 23) I would say that many of the road markings in the town are now indistinguishable.

A lack of clear road markings can lead to poor road position and confusion for both motorists and pedestrians.

If you look at the junction of Bye Street with The Homend – one of the busiest junctions in the town, and with narrow pavements, you will see that little remains of the road markings.

Also, many of the double yellow lines in the town are broken up, which makes enforcing them impossible.

The state of road markings, together with the poor condition of some roads (eg. Martin’s Way, Lower Road Industrial Estate, Woodleigh Road, and parts of New Street and Biddulph Way) means that an overall plan, delivered in partnership with Balfour Beatty, is needed to tackle these problems as well as working through issues around a lack of parking in the town.
