AMIDST all the prevailing panic and apprehension about the apparent disintegration of A & E I would like to introduce a note of optimism and praise.

I am 93, my home was flooded suddenly in October and I had to leave as quickly as possible and go into a care home.

When I had stopped shaking, I was taken by a kind friend for a drive around the hills and a stop for tea.

Unfortunately, owing to age, arthritis and being all shook up I fell heavily and was in excruciating pain.

A cruising paramedic was called, diagnosed a possible hip fracture and am ambulance arrived to take me to Worcester A & E.

I was wheeled into a cubicle (where I must admit I envisioned headlines of 93 year old left in cubicle for nine hours) but within two minutes a nurse arrived and after a short conversation said It's so nice to talk to you, I've been abused and shouted at all day.

Two minutes later a doctor arrived and I was x-rayed immediately.

A couple of minutes and he returned to say 'No fracture - just badly torn ligaments and muscles'.

Having verified that I was already in a care home, the super nurse wheeled me out to my friend's car and we were on our way out.

No more than 45 minutes and treated with loving care, dignity and extreme kindness.

So let's hear it for Worcester A &E - yay!

Incidentally I do not vote for the Conservative party - I just wish that more truth would be told about existing conditions and also maybe, people should not be surprised that, after a week of stuffing food and alcohol into themselves, they fall ill.

Thank you to everyone in the department - you were very impressive - high fives all round!
