IN its 800-year-history the Magna Carta has become a cornerstone of a great many legal systems worldwide. It is interesting to know that only two of the original items have any note today. It has evolved!

In Malvern the 'Glorious' Malvern Hills Act 1824 and all revisions to 1995 has remained firmly stuck in the past.

The debacle of the hill-top cafe and the £250,000 estimated cost not to have it rebuilt (a very good reason not to visit the hills and pay a parking fee as the powers that be only waste funds), and I recall the War of Old Hills in the early 80s, plus many more skirmishes.

The 'lift' is a great idea, and with proper controls to safeguard everyone would be marvellous, so making a trip to the top an even greater experience. But flat-earth thinking is becoming overwhelming.

Move on, Conservators, and evolve, please!

One plea. Somewhere in the UK some innocent donkeys reside.

Leave them alone! To spend a lifetime hauling overweight tourists up the hills is not the answer.
