Sir - I’m over the moon that Malvern Hills District Councillor Clive Smith approves of the plans to build a new home for the City’s football club in Perdiswell.
Of course there is a long tradition in this country of football clubs moving location, WCFC moved to St. George’s Lane in 1905 a mere three years after the club was formed.
There is, however, a new trend being set by some clubs including Wimbledon and (temporarily) Coventry City where, not only have the clubs moved ground, they’ve moved away from the towns and cities where they were originally formed.
Have the club considered following this new tradition? If not, perhaps they could consider moving the ground out of the city to, say, the Malvern Hills.
Councillor Smith would do well to remember that all though the new ground might not be a new Old Trafford, the proposal is to remove some of the space enjoyed by so many people out of public use. I for one would be sick as a parrot to see such a valuable public resource lost.
