I AM sure it would help all of us (ex-parents, council taxpayers, and current parents) who are trying to understand the strange noises coming from the recently appointed headteacher of the Chase School to be offered some facts.
Assuming the recent utterances are endorsed by the governing body, could you print the names of the governors, and who appointed them?
It would be helpful to know to whom they are accountable, and to what extent they may or may not have consulted upon the apparent changes in the school’s purposes that you have reported.
If you have the space, perhaps you could remind us of the controversy surrounding the Super Grammar School proposal some 35 years ago, and its rejection in favour of a non-selective comprehensive ‘high school’ – a role that the Chase has undertaken under the leadership of three distinguished former headteachers, and with great success.
