At the Malvern Hills District Council meeting on October 16 Martin Lawrence chose to use part of his allocated time during the public speaking session to question why I spent time at the employment tribunal which was hearing the case of the unfair dismissal of Richard Chapman by Malvern Town Council.

I can't imagine by what right Mr Lawrence thinks he can question how I spend my time and, of course, I don't need to answer him, but as he has opened the door on this debacle I will.

I went along as a member of the public as any person has the right to do in order to hear for myself the facts surrounding this case.

Hearing comments in the court such as "witch hunt, kangaroo court and travesty of justice" confirmed my worse fears – that our town council had managed to ineptly create a disaster that was going to cost the tax-paying residents of Malvern to put right.

This was confirmed with the judge's findings and her comment: " I have rarely heard a case when unfair dismissal was so apparent."

For the record, in the near future I will, among other things, be spending a day photographing wild deer and a weekend visiting my daughter in Yorkshire. I don't know if this is acceptable to Mr Lawrence, but quite frankly I couldn't care less!
