AT a meeting we were told that out of the two candidates, Chris Bocock of Malvern Hills District Council and Jack Heggarty of Wychavon District Council, only one had been interviewed. We were not told which.

As it was at the leadership's insistence that the post be ring-fenced to these two individuals. This seems rather odd.

Mr Bocock said only last year that "now is not the time" to restructure the senior management team, yet this year it was considered appropriate to apply for government funding of £400,000 for severance costs.

I am looking forward to hearing which candidate has been recommended for the post and which has been awarded, say early retirement with enhancement or perhaps voluntary redundancy, or maybe both?
