WITH new laws in place to allow recording of council meetings I knew from the outset that Tuesday's meeting would be a comedy of errors.
The new district councillor tried to vote to accept the minutes of a meeting she had not attended.
The leader of the council abstained on a vote that said they should all read the constitution.
The leader refused to answer a question about the conflict of interests of putting up his own land for development. This brought laughter at the irony from the audience.
Time was wasted talking about councillors dress sense.
All of this while people dressed as badgers sat aghast at comments coming from the leader and deputy leader about opposition councillors.
But then it all took a nasty turn and became less a comedy and more a tragedy.
The chair allowed, once again, the debate on a shared chief executive to be stopped short.
A party whip imposed on the Tory councillors saw them all bar one vote en masse.
So, for once I thank Eric Pickles. No one can hide from what was said and done that night.
Plus I have episode one of Carry On Up The Council.
