FURTHER to the recent advertisement in the paper by the council regarding the leasing of the Sling Lane Playing fields to a local football club, and how the improvements will benefit all.
I would recommend the council pay a visit to the Sling Lane fields, where they will see only neglect to the open fields, where sport cannot be played as the grass has been allowed to grow to so height it is even difficult to walk in.
As a regular dog walker in the fields, it has even become difficult to clean up after the dog has fouled, and it can be seen that many are not even bothering.
There is a very nice area of grass which has been mown regularly – the new football pitches – but these are fenced off and not available for the general public.
Please, it was sold to us as an improved area for all, which it is definitely is not at this point.
