CONTRARY to the report in the Malvern Gazette (May 30), while I have had the pleasure of working closely with the mayor, Peter Webb, on several projects, and will continue to do so, I was never elected to be, nor have I ever claimed to be, the deputy mayor.
I think it is important for the deputy mayor to be in a position to assume the mayoral role at a future date, and that is a commitment that I cannot make.
I wish the newly elected deputy mayor Tim Dance every success in his new position.
