Public spirit, not political correctness
2:50pm Wednesday 11th June 2014 in Letters
I TOTALLY agree with John Groves’ feelings in his letter in the Reporter (May 30), 'Inner city slum'.
The town is rapidly giving the appearance of an inner city slum and no one in authority seems to be able to do anything about it.
What a wonderfully politically correct new mayor we have in Ledbury. He says he cannot condone what the reported mystery grass cutter is doing as, if there was an accident, it would be at his (the grass cutter's) risk.
I feel certain that such a public-spirited individual would be well aware of the situation and would not be one of these modern folk who think a risk assessment is necessary before attempting anything at all.
It is a pity the mayor is not civic minded enough to join the volunteers who have now started appear to assist with trying to give our town some semblance of respectability.
Incidentally, I with others in the area have formally complained about the situation to Herefordshire Council.
They have acknowledged my complaint and say I might expect a response within 10 days!
