Post office vans take vital parking spaces

First published in Letters

REGARDING the Post Office vans causing traffic disruption when parking outside Malvern sorting office. At the time they said they were addressing the issue and ensuring that the road would be clear.

I see this morning that their way of addressing the issue is to park along Belle Vue Terrace, taking up several of the parking spaces between the Mount Pleasant and W H Smith.

That can't be good for trade for those businesses along there.

THE FACTS says...

Why have a sorting office in a constricted town centre when we have a perfectly good commercial estate to run these ops from .... indeed thats where the vans are stored overnight !

It really would be more useful if people were to check their facts before commenting on issues. Especially if they call themselves 'The Facts'.

OK, for many years RM have been using the unused taxi rank opposite the office to park & load vans in the morning.
Due to local changes in parking enforcement, they are no longer allowed to use these empty spaces. So the RM drivers have to park elsewhere. Despite the FACT that it is very rare to see a taxi in the spaces allotted before lunchtime.
The vans have NOT been stored overnight in Spring Lane for several years. I think they tried parking them up at 'The Splash' carpark since, but they were vandalised.
So, try & get your FACTS right before commenting!

Happy to be corrected.

I wonder where they are parked now in that case...

My point remains, that we don't need the constriction.

Apparently, the drivers now are requested to take them home. Of course we do no need the constriction caused by RM vans on Belle Vue Terrace & up Church St - but it seems very silly that they are not allowed to park on the usually empty taxi rank.
By the way, I am not a RM driver, & do not drive. I walk, cycle or motorcycle.
