Our mail arrives too late

First published in Letters

NOT for the first time a birthday card enclosing some cash, sent by my mother-in-law to her daughter and posted in Malvern has, after two weeks, failed to arrive in Suckley a mere five miles away.

There was a time when interfering with Her Majesty’s Post was close to treason. Regrettably, now it is an accepted fact of life that much of what is placed in a letter box today fails to arrive at all, let alone the following day.

Recently floated, the Post Office boasts being a modern profitable company we should all be proud of.
