I noted with interest your article about the arrival of high speed broadband in West Malvern (March 8).
It is indeed good news, for most residents. However, for a small number of us on De Walden Road, Lower Park Road and Blackheath Way the reality is not that exciting.
I had my new high speed service installed in January and found that I received a speed of 3.6 Mbps only. That is 2.5 times better that the 1.6 I used to receive, so thankful for small mercies, and BT had informed me before the install that I would probably get less than 1 Mbps.
Why the slow speed? There is no fault on the line, but it uses aluminium cabling from the cabinet and BT will not be doing anything about it as far as I am aware.
I am in contact with Ian Binks from BT, but he says cannot influence the cabling supplier, which is OpenReach.
So, after waiting two years I have only reached the performance levels others took for granted with slow speed internet. Well, there is always fibre to the home to look forward to.
