AS a founder member of the committee that reformed the carnival in 1975, I was disappointed to note the recent news in the Ledbury Reporter.

Clive Jupp, who with his wife Jill is a hard-working supporter of the carnival, is voicing the concerns of the present committee, but the emphasis in the Reporter was misleading.

Over the 40 years since it started, there have been several stages when the carnival faced an uncertain future, but every time new faces have come forward and revitalised it.

Steve Clegg has served as chairman for almost half the 40 years, and led from the front with enthusiasm and dedication. But he is in the process of moving from the area.

There are also other dedicated members who are well capable of going forward, but they cannot do this on their own.

The carnival is now well established as part of the fabric of the town, but to continue it needs new blood.

Already a number of younger people have come forward, and we will be pleased to hear from anyone else who is interested in being involved, either young or old!

If you are interested then please contact any member of the committee or me on 01531 670269 or alternatively email: info@woodsidelodges.co.uk.
