What's happened to our broadband?

I AM becoming increasingly frustrated with BT's complete lack of interest or knowledge on the issue of broadband in West Malvern.

I managed to get some correspondence last November from the NGA enquiry portal of BT who promised completion in West Malvern by January this year.

Well, it's now March and no sign of any progress.

I've come to the conclusion that BT just won't bother until there are enough BT Vision sign-ups to warrant the investment so will just dish out feeble excuses in the meantime.

As someone who works from home on occasion, the painfully slow speeds means it easier to stay in London and work there than come home and work.

My Vodafone connection relies on the broadband connection. Some days it's so slow I can't receive an incoming call.

That just can't be right in today's marketplace.

It must be at lease 2 years now since we were first promised Broadband in West Malvern imminently, so the fact that yet another promised date has come and gone now.

Fed up with a string of broken BT commitments, I decided to email Harriett Baldwin about the situation and received a letter from her in response on 17/01/2014 which said:

"There have been complications with this cabinet as the agreement that had been obtained then fell through when things changed at The Lamb, setting BT back to square one. I understand that, at one stage, they thought that this upgrade would have to be removed from their programme as the problems appeared to be insurmountable. However, a new site has been approved and work is due to start this week. Given the problems in West Malvern, BT cannot give a promise of a date but do say that if no further problems are encountered with this, they hope that the cabinet will go live in a matter of several weeks rather than several months."

Once can only assume that further problems have been encountered, but it really is long overdue that BT pulled its collective finger out and got this sorted once and for all after so many dates that they've told people that this will be done by have come and gone.....
