IN REPLY to Mr Lawrence’s letter published in last week’s Gazette where he seeks to persuade us that county councillors only bother to visit and ‘press flesh’ at election time and use district councillors as their eyes and ears I ask him whether he has a short memory?
It was only recently that county councillor Lucy Hodgson awarded £1,000 from her community fund for a local community centre he is involved in and if he had turned to page 31 of the same edition he would see Coun Hodgson featured during a visit to Malvern Wells Primary School. Furthermore I believe it is important for district and county councillors to work together for the good of the community.
While Mr Lawrence may feel he has justifiable cause to make such comment due to a personal experience I feel that such a generalisation is wholly unfair on those members of the district and county council who carry out their roles with due diligence.
MELANIE BAKER Councillor Chase Ward
