I ATTENDED the planning meeting on December 4 at the Bank House. I’ve attended a few parish and council planning meetings recently but this meeting was filled with ordinary local people who are truly fed up and disgusted with the planners and Malvern Hills District Council.

I know nothing about planning. I follow what’s going on through the Gazette and I’m aware of the need for houses, but I’[m shocked at what’s going on locally.

We had an orchard at the end of our road. It was stealthily demolished on Good Friday, trees chopped down and hedges ripped out. There was no thought to wildlife and no one was prosecuted!

Then came the planning application with the squeezing in of too many houses. So I followed its progress. This is planning in a nutshell.

The planners will allow almost everything to get them out of the mess THEY got themselves into. The council defer everything because if they refuse and it goes to appeal they have to pay costs.

Powick and Leigh Sinton have several planning applications ongoing and I realise it’s not if they grant permission but when.

The planners, developers and Malvern Hills District Council are not listening to us, they have become so compassion fatigued they don’t see that what they put forward for development REALLY affects peoples lives.

How is it that so few selfimportant people can affect the lives of so many ordinary, hard-working people. Shame on them.
