HERE we go again, as shown in the Gazette photograph, 3,000 extra wheelie bins purportedly ordered in anticipation of more houses to be built. We already have hundreds in stock so now we have more than 3,000 at a cost of what ... £70,000?
My parents always said ‘keep some for a rainy day’ but Malvern Hills District Council executives apparently never envisage having a rainy day.
Perhaps this is the case with the excessive diesel costs of the wonderful new lorries that the wise officer saw fit to purchase.
My calculations show an increase in cost of £74,400 per year – and we were told these new vehicles would be more efficient and more economical.
Ours is the second smallest council area in the country yet we have six highly paid executives, led by a chief executive at a higher salary than our Prime Minister. Their answer seems to be to sell off everything or palm it off to other councils.
I would suggest that our council take a severe look at the salaries of these respected personnel, with a view to drastically reducing them. This alone could save at least £500,000 per annum while still leaving them all with very handsome salaries. I would like to advise David Cameron that if he possibly loses his job there may hopefully, soon be a better paid position with the council.
