UNFORTUNATELY many of our leaders have had a classical education (cruelly described as indepth studies of Greek fairy tales) or have been professional agitators, both with limited management experience.

Miliband has admitted to failures on immigration but not yet on potential financial ruin and he has now admitted to housing mistakes.

Cameron doesn’t want to listen to the electorate and has even bungled gay marriage, of interest to one fifth of one per cent of the voters.

We are now about to suffer from the simplistic diktats on housing.

In my view it is clear that traffic is increasing in Malvern, and God help us when another 1,000 houses are built. I feel that the centre of Malvern will die from a surfeit of cars.

You cannot take a small town trapped by history under the hills with limited room for growth and turn it into a small city because some politician has ruled that everyone has to meet a percentage target. In the past, mass housing has happened where the work is – there are no satanic mills round here!

Perhaps one day we will get a leader who, on surveying his limitations, will call his troops together and say ‘we have bungled it, and I think we ought to dissolve the party!’.
