Here's the facts

PERHAPS readers would like to consider the following facts before rushing to support UKIP, as advised by your correspondent, Mr Starr.
He refers to the recent EU Commission’s Report which points out that there are 612,000 economically “non-active” EU migrants in the UK.
This figure includes retired people, students and families of those working, and according to the Department of Work and Pensions only 60,000 EU migrants claim Jobseeker’s Allowance.
In fact the Commission’s Report found that EU migrants were less likely to be non- active than British nationals. While 30 per cent of EU nationals in the UK are non-active, the figure for British nationals is 43 per cent.
In other words EU migrants are more likely to be net contributors to, rather than net beneficiaries of, the UK social security system.
It makes no more sense to exclude talented and hard-working legal EU migrants than it does to exclude the considerable foreign investment we receive.
Before complaining about the EU migrants coming to this country we should be aware that Britons live abroad in greater numbers than any other EU country. Be careful what you wish for Mr. Starr.
