SHAME on you, Malvern Gazette, for printing such an inaccurate and misleading article on September 13, regarding the Chase School.
This was scaremongering at its worst, and misconstrued the “Safer Schools Initiative”.
The article gave the impression that the Chase School had brought in police officers due to problems with bad behaviour and that crime was prevalent in the school.
The school’s new headteacher, Richard Jacobs responded immediately on the school website, with a straightforward and factual explanation, which I hope appears in the Malvern Gazette, alongside a public apology to him.
There are no police officers involved as quoted by your reporter. There is a community support officer, who will not be patrolling the playground, or curbing bad behaviour.
The school has welcomed this support officer to assist with a variety of duties, which are listed by Mr Jacobs on the school website.
I felt compelledtowrite in afteraparent, who hasa childdue tostartat the ChaseSchool nextyear, mentionedthisarticle tome.
She was actually considering sending her child to another school having read this report.
Such damaging misinformation could severely affect the excellent reputation of this school.
