They won't stop

I FEEL I must write about the proposed limitation of access to Gullet Quarry following the recent deaths of two swimmers there.
With all due respect to the friends and families of the deceased young men, it should be borne in mind that various signs were already in place, warning visitors of the dangers inherent in swimming in the pool.
Further, it seems unlikely that fencing will stop anyone determined to enter the water.
Officials were at the edge of the site in the days immediately after the fatalities, advising people not to swim. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this seems to have met with very limited success.
Unfortunately, certain actions can have extreme consequences and, ultimately, health and safety moves cannot be relied on to negate these.
