We are bothered

WHY am I not surprised by the political ineptitude of the Liberal Democrats as evidenced in the recent edition of ‘Chase Focus’.

They suggest Labour voters should vot eLiberal to keep out the Conservatives, when we all know that at the last election a vote for the Liberal Democrats gave us the present deeply-divided Tory-led coalition which is about to plunge the country into a triple dip recession.

The regenerated Malvern LabourParty is fielding candidates in allthe Malvern divisions atthe forthcoming county council elections on May 2.

Labour candidates will be fighting to change the priorities ofthis Conservative County Council, forced into cuts in local services because of the actions of the coalition Government.

Labour candidates will fight to ensure the cuts do not affect the poor and most vulnerable in society.

JILL SMITH

Labour Party Candidate for the Chase division, Malvern

The Facts - "this position" was originally created by the global financial crisis. You may have noticed that other countries around the world that did not have Gordon Brown, Tony Blair, Labour or even left of centre governments in charge, also suffered recessions as a result of this crisis caused by the global banking industry. The difference is that other major economies are now coming out of recession rather than heading deeper into debt and depression as we are. Our economic position now is due to the the failed economic policies of Osborne and the Conservatives - propped up of course by the turncoat Lib Dems.

Extraordinarily selective memory.

Labour spent all the money then the recession occurred...

Not true. You are either misinformed or deliberately trying to misinform. Prior to the global financial crisis, total public sector (mostly central government spending) debt was 36% of GDP; less than the 41% when Labour came into office in 1997. Only after the global crisis did government debt rise steeply, and continues to do so under the failing and pointless coalition austerity measures.

Well with the county council elections looming the public of worcestershire will be able to choose who they trust.
