Good for town

THE letter in the Malvern Gazette of February 22 from Steve Smart highlights the chronic shortage of housing.

The development at Newland on the outskirts of Malvern proposed by Gleesons Strategic Land will allow Malvern to make a very real contribution to the problem.

This development will bring the benefit of major infrastructure improvements together with good quality social and affordable housing.

The inclusion of a number of higher priced properties should also encourage the arrival of the right kind of entrepreneurs to help alleviate unemployment.

There will also be a number of new residents, paying council tax and visiting local shops and businesses.

It will help in finding further allotment space as well as an extension to our cemetery needs.

We might even with the help of Newland Parish Council be able to provide a new crematorium.

We in Malvern also have a duty to maintain the appearance of the town and not subject us all to scattered small developments which will destroy local green spaces.

The Newland development will be a great benefit to the town and one of which we can be proud.

Just for starters I would like to challenge Councillor Reginbeau to provide one bit of evidence to support his assertion that "The inclusion of a number of higher priced properties should also encourage the arrival of the right kind of entrepreneurs to help alleviate unemployment." To my my mind this statement is fanciful nonsense.

The whole letter is nonsense.
I wrote to hin to ask about the cemetary ,infrastruture and crematorium.
He has no idea what infrastructute will be improved,no idea where the cemetary will be and the crematorium is his own idea. The planning dept have never heard of it. Newland parish council sre very annoyed and the town council deny all knowledge !!!
