Welcoming bins

LAST week’s Malvern Gazette letters page included its fair share of comment on wheelie bins.

But I actually live in one of those places where a wheelie bin would be a good solution and they would certainly look better than a pile of black bags.

We have a wide, flat drive that opens out onto the road with plenty of space for the bins and, as we have been known to have the odd glass or two of wine at the weekend, having a way to get rid of glass for recycling would also make a welcome change to driving up to the bottle bank. Great.

Butthen we got a letter saying that our road was too narrow for the specially adapted bin wagon to drive down so thatf or us the bag collections would continue as usual—which presumably means no glass recycling.

I know the authorities have managed to irritate everyone who was opposed to wheelie bins.

But now it looks as though they’ve also found a way to irritate those of us who actually want the things.
