A FORMER Pans People dancer has been at Malvern Theatres todays speaking at the Worcestershire Womens Institution's (WI) annual general meeting.

Barbara Powell or Babs', spoke at the convention about her career as a dancer and also the work she has done for charity.

She has done numerous charity events which includes sailing around the world for the Global Yacht Challenge and trek's in Nepal and Peru.

Most of the work done by Barbara is in aid of Lord Taverners and Breast Cancer Research but she is planning another trek to the North Geographical Pole next week for the Polar Extreme Foundation.

Babs, who is married to Holby City actor Robert Powell said: "It is a great thrill to be invited here to talk about my adventures and have the support of the WI." She added: Robert was going to come along but is filming, most people only want to come to meet my gorgeous husband!"

Also speaking at the WI meeting was American State Department Ambassador Oliver John Moss, who gives talks at various venue's across the country concerning American policies and affairs, including the current general election.

The WI, which has been running since 1915, was set up for women to come together and take part in community matters.

Member Heather Jefferies said: "The WI is a place for women to go and raise money for charities. We try to help in the community as much as possible and want to continue the good work."

"Pans People star at WI meet" and Babs' has been on trek's in Nepal and Peru. Total lack of apostrophe knowledge is a journalist's qualification then?

Ufortunatlie no jourro has as put a name to this dittie overwice we could put them in the stocks on cowly rd and pelt hem with tomotoes.
