On Monday 11 October Colwall Wings WI hosted a fundraising event at the Thai Rama restaurant in Colwall. The evening was a huge success and raised £340 towards the group’s proposed plans to make a contribution to the wider WI community through association with the nationwide WI campaigns.
WI campaigns are about changing things for the better and tackling the issues that matter to members. From equal pay to climate change, from gaps in the midwifery workforce to the plight of the honeybee, from dementia care to saving local libraries, WI members have embraced a diverse set of challenges and built a reputation for the WI as a practical and ambitious organisation that doesn't shy away from tricky issues.
Jane Stratton, President of Colwall WINGS WI says:
“It is a privilege to belong to an organisation that, through its wider reach, enables us to work at local level to really make a difference both nationally and indeed globally.
“It is anticipated that we use funds raised so far and at future events on training and education for our members so we can really understand this important aspect of the WI, and to make an on-going contribution.”
