LEDBURY CHORAL SOCIETY

The society begins its new year this week with much to look forward to. After a successful sing of Elgar’s The Kingdom in Hereford Cathedral, it will be joining with St Michael’s Hospice on 11th December in the cathedral again for the annual Light up a Life Service. This is a huge privilege and we look forward to joining with many friends and families across Herefordshire for this special event.

On Saturday 17th September we will be hosting Forest Madrigals, a society of singers who all meet up once a year under the conductor Michael Kibblewhite to perform a range of music in beautiful churches and towns across the country. This year it is Ledbury and members of the society will join for some pieces. There will be refreshments in the interval and a chance to chat to these well-travelled musicians. Entrance is free with a retiring collection.

We join members of the Town for the Civic Service on Sunday 18th September in St Michael’s. It is an opportunity to share with and be thankful for the community we live in.

The Society welcomes new members throughout the year and especially male voices. Our repertoire is mostly choral but we ‘break out’ from time to time and enjoy spirituals, modern works and light hearted repertoire. The society was founded originally as The Gilbert & Sullivan Society, so we try not to forget our roots!

Please come along and join us on a Thursday night from 7.30pm in the Baptist Church in The Homend in Ledbury. Our music director Malcolm Macleod encourages everyone to have a go and the months ahead are full of exciting musical prospects.
