LAST Thursday was the AGM of the Cordery Club. This great club has been going for 49 years under the auspices of Margaret Smith and Connie Marshall, who were founder members. In the beginning there were over 60 members but over the years the numbers have dwindled. It is open to men and women over the age of 60 and they meet first Thursday of each month at 2.30pm in Welland Parish Hall. They have a variety of speakers and outings and would welcome new members. There is also time for a cup of tea and delicious home made cakes. Come along and see.

Welland now has its own web site with all news and events going on in the village. Just log on to www.wellandparishcouncil . Also Welland Parish Hall has a link from St James' Church web site so you can do your bookings on line. Very techie we are getting!

The Tredegar Orpheus Male Voice Choir will be at the Church on Saturday 24th September at 7pm. There will be a fish and chip supper in the Parish Hall afterwards. Tickets for the concert are £10 and if you want a fish and chip supper afterwards the tickets for that is £6. These are limited and are available from Welland Stores and Hanley Swan Post office.

Advance notice of Powick Community Choir in the Church on October 22. Tickets and publicity will be available soon. This is another very popular event.

Kids Klobber is on September 17 in the Parish Hall. This marvellous idea of being able to pass on outgrown clothes and toys and making a bit of money to buy more toys and clothes has been going for 20 years. It was one of our previous Vicar's brainwaves as a fund raiser for the Church, although we didn't realise at the time it would be so successful. To book a table ring Jo 01684 310256

And last but not least - Please don't rain tomorrow; it's my wingwalk!
