The sun was shining, The coach was full with members , husbands, and friends of the Wells and Wyche WI. to spend a very pleasurable journey through the 'Cotswolds', on our way to' Greys Court'. A National Trust property near Henley on Thames to study!

The sites original buildings dated from the late11th and 12th Century, and can be seen today, The mansion house dates from the 16th Century

Sir Felix, and Lady Elizabeth Brunner bought the estate in 1937, and restored the house, and rescued the gardens from dereliction. They created a place beauty as well as a comfortable family home,

Lady Brunner was Chairman of the National Federation of Women's Institutes between 1951-1956, She also founded the 'Keep Britain tidy Campaign'

We spent a very pleasant day, wandering through lovely and varied gardens, with an expert guide who gave us insights of the History of both the house and gardens,

We refreshed in the 'Cowshed' (Restaurant) and started our journey home, but not before accepting an afternoon tea invitation, from ' Peachcroft WI at Abingdon'. whom had prepared a delicious tea with scrumptious cakes for us to help us on our way, which we were very grateful for.

We all returned with new knowledge and full 'tums' from our 'Study Day'.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday 8th September, at the Wells Village Hall from 7.30pm. where we are holding a Social Evening, to include a Buffet

Visitors are always Welcome
