It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our very good friend and colleague John Peters who passed away on Monday 1st August at St. Richard’s hospice after a long illness. We will all miss the contribution and warm companionship that John gave to the branch during his twenty-one years as a member and we send our deepest sympathy and condolences to Hazel, Sarah, Andrew and the boys.

We had no branch meeting in August but the branch did compete in the Group 3 skittles fun evening at Claines with three members attending but unfortunately without success, so we will have to try again next year to win back ‘our own Trevor Barry Memorial cup’.

As stated last month on Saturday September 17th we will be holding our ‘Poppy Bingo’ evening again following the success of the event last year. We will again have the pleasure of using the Callow End Club and the excitement will start at 8.30pm and reminders will be made nearer the time, so ‘Eyes Down’ everyone.

The work of the RBL goes on throughout the year providing care and assistance to ex-servicemen and their dependants and your local branch are the eyes and ears in the community. We could always do with some more help; so if you would like to join us as a Legion member we would welcome you with open arms and remember anyone can become a member of the Royal British Legion, old or young, male or female and you DO NOT have to be ex-service to be a member.

If you would like to get involved and join us contact John Mason on 01905 830805.

Our next branch meeting will be on Tuesday September 13th at Madresfield Club starting at 8.15 and we will be planning for this years Remembrance services at Powick and Callow End. So please come along and join us if you can.
