Many village activities have been put on hold until the summer is over, but let’s make the most of the summer days left to us: let’s enjoy having tea in the garden, wearing skirts and shorts, going barefoot, feeling the freshness of the lawn under our feet, before the days draw in and the dark evenings encroach.

The Memorial Hall has been closed this week while the floor is sanded and re-varnished. It should be open for business as usual on Tuesday 16 August.

Following the jewellery-theft which took place in June on Horse Road, villagers are reminded to be vigilant. Keep your windows and doors closed or locked if you are not nearby.

The Walking Group are not taking a summer break and this coming week will be taken on a guide tour around Frith Wood by Phil. Don’t miss it!

Services at Christ Church continue as usual and all are welcome to attend Sunday worship at 9.30am, and Wednesday prayers at the same time.

Extension work is being carried out at The Farmers Arms but they are still open for business.

Thanks again to all in the village who volunteer to keep everything looking nice and running smoothly. We appreciate you!

And a thought to end with: “A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing and the lawn mower is broken.” (Anon)

Have a super week!
