DURING the period of his Presidency of Malvern Rotary Club from July 2015 to June 2016, Bruce Bannister Harding has supported the Club in organising a number of fund raising events. These included the annual Tree of Light project in Priory park in December, the now well established Pancake Race in February, also in the park, our Golf day in May and a number of other events- a Mile of Coins collection and stewarding at the Welland Steam Rally. All the funds raised at these events were used to support local, national and international charities.

The main local charity this year was ARCOS which provides various forms of therapy to brain damaged patients to get them back to normal living.

As well as these fund raising events, the club has supported other activities in Malvern. These include provision of a new gate for the 'What Makes You Different Makes You Beautiful' centre in Howsell road catering for preschool children and running The Rotary Young Writers and Young Speakers competitions in Malvern, the national Rotary 'Know Your Blood Pressure' scheme aimed at alerting people to the perils of high blood pressure.

A major highlight of the year has been the start of a scheme in conjunction with the Consevators, Landrover (Eastnor) and the H2O cafe at the Wyche, to take those residents of Malvern who are no longer able to make the trip themselves, up to the top of the Worcestershire Beacon.

The club has also enjoyed itself not only with these events but also with various social events.

Over the next year to July 2017, Barry Jones intends to carry on with the major fund raising events of recent years and will be supporting local and other charities as before. This year Barry will be placing the emphasis on supporting charities for Sick and Disabled Children.

He will also presiding over the club's projects under the auspices of various national Rotary competitions. He will be building on the tentative steps made by a member of the Club last year to start a Rotaract Club for young people in Malvern.

As in every previous year, the president has aims to attract new members to the Club to help us to carry on the invaluable work that is done both locally and internationally.
