A meeting of the Hot Peppers was held on Wednesday 22 at Welland Court by kind permission of the Archer family. This was our garden party and as we began to erect umbrellas and gazebos to frighten off the storms, we were able to appreciate the panoramic scenery which was surrounding us. Gemma Dewson, our new president, opened the meeting by welcoming members and guests and introducing our new committee. We do seem to have a large committee but this is an advantage as duties are covered when anyone is absent. Gemma then reported on the Upton carnival and the big community knit. The W.I. float was a great success and much appreciation was given to those who had helped with the decoration thereof. This has now been dismantled and the squares washed, where necessary, and are being made into blankets to be given to charities. Gemma asked if there would be any volunteers available to help on August 2, when it would be judging day for Upton in Bloom. To keep up with the times, Gemma is keen to arrange a tutorial for "Twitter and Facebook" and asked if those interested could put down their names. As it has probably not been used to its advantage, the Red Book will be highlighted by a notice board each month. These notices usually cover information regarding courses, meetings, outings etc from County. Members were asked for suggestions of subjects to be included in the next programme. Sue Mynard, our very capable list organiser, was asking members for their help in baking and in time manning the stall at both the Blues Festival and Sunshine FestivaL It was suggested that those going to Stratford on 2nd.July, contributed to a picnic. All hands to the deck in order to clean our new acquirement. (peppers caravan or storage for our festival equipment) This was arranged for 6th.July at The Lindens. As this was the 3rd anniversary of the club, we enjoyed a glass of fizz with our scones, cream and strawberry jam. As the evening was drawing in and the weather still co-operating, the raffle was held and gradually members departed, having enjoyed a very pleasant evening.

Our next meeting will be on 27 July in the pavilion at 7.30pm and the subject will by Bee Keeping. Don't forget the Blues Festival, 15, 16, 17 July. We will be there all three days with our delicious cakes and beverages, on the Sports field - Don't pass us by, come and say Hello.
