THE meeting on 1 June listened to a talk given by local members, Catherine Banks and Faith Renger of the Barnard’s Green Research Team. In a series of talks about the area, this one is called Bernard’s Green Retail Shops: The Story. Knowing the shops that exist today meant that we knew half of the story but Catherine and Faith have researched the types of shops and their owners over many years. It was pleasing to see a number of visitors from the locality at the meeting.

The next meeting on 6 July will include the Annual General Meeting followed by a celebration of the Society’s 21st anniversary and a talk by Frank Townsend, one of the founder members, on the beginnings of the Society.

Please note that there will not be a meeting in August.

All details on the Society can be found at www.mfhs.org.uk. The Society meets on the first Wednesday of the month in the Drama Studio, Dyson Perrins CofE Academy, Yates Hay Road, Malvern WR14 1WD. Doors open at 7pm. Refreshments are available. New members and visitors are welcome. Please note: the entrance is via the side carpark in Yates Hay Road. Look out for way pointers.
