Saturdays combined Fete and Fun Dog show was a great success despite a few heavy downpours of rain. This is the first year that the two events have been together and it looks like it will be an annual event. The local Vets sponsored the Dog show and a range of prizes were generously given for the raffle. The Bakehouse Cafe on the Gloucester Road, made a novel cake with guess the amount of sweets on the top. It was won by Pam Turbutt whose grandchildren cant wait for her to visit. All in all, it has raised a lot of money to be divided between the St.James Church and Welland Parish Hall. Many years ago the Fete was in aid of the local Church and usually held in the Vicarage garden, but when in the early 20th Century a Parish Hall was built, it became a joint enterprise.

Our next event will be the Patronal Festival in the Church on the weekend of 23/24 July. This will be a Flower Festival, Craft Fair, and Craft exhibition and demonstrations from the Welland Arts and Crafts Club. The tales are £15 weekend or £10 day.

Please don't forget my wingwalk in aid of Childline. I have funded the cost of the walk myself, but would dearly appreciate lots of sponsorship in aid of Childline. This is such a worthy Charity for children to get help. Just go to my just giving page to donate. Your donations goes straight to Childline on justgiving.com/fundraising/Mary-Purser.
