SOMETHING very special happened at Christ Church on Sunday 19th June . Four very talented musicians – The Messiaen Players- gave an exceptional performance. The first half of the programme was Debussy, with some very technically demanding pieces and then came the Messiaen , Quartet For the End of Time. This is not a very well-known piece, although I am sure some of the audience had far more knowledge of it than I . All I can say is that it made the hairs stand on end. One member of the audience put it very succinctly saying “ It reached the parts other music doesn’t reach”. The calibre of the playing was outstanding and the audience were very fortunate indeed to be able to hear that standard in Malvern and in our Church. Their command of their instruments was wonderful to witness and we wish them a huge success in their future careers. With teas, coffees and home-made cakes at the interval it was a most enjoyable way to spend an afternoon but the icing on the cake( pardon the pun) was that it raised nearly £600 for Worcestershire Cancer Aid. Please come along to Christ Church again on Saturday from 10.00 a.m. to 12 noon for the regular Book Fair and refreshments and our next musical event is on Saturday 2 July 7.30pm when the Worcestershire Symphony Orchestra return with a programme that includes: Vivaldi, Beethoven, Mozart, Tartini & Haydn, A Summer Chamber Concert.
