Thomas Winters, a student in 8RU has won a prize in Malvern Civic Society’s Schools’ Literary Competition. Pupils were invited to write a piece of prose or a poem centred on the theme ‘Malvern and Me’. Thomas chose to write in prose and came up with the wonderfully imaginative idea of a story featuring the coming to life of Elgar’s statue, the bronze situated in Belle Vue Terrace. He was very pleased to hear the great news of a prize, the nature of which he does not yet know. This will be revealed, however, when Thomas attends a prize-giving ceremony on Saturday 25th June at Malvern Theatres. Mr Rust, Thomas’s Form Tutor was delighted when he hear the news, saying “I am very proud of Thomas for this excellent achievement.” Thomas pronounced himself “very pleased” to have won a prize.
