THE rafters rang and the roof was raised at Williams Court, Burrows Close, Barnard's Green recently when "Sounds of Malvern" gave a spirited performance of Country and Western classics and Songs from the Shows in aid of "Help for Heroes". Featuring Dave Kent and guitar, and Jenny Fellowes accompanied by Rita Willmott on piano, an appreciative audience applauded loudly throughout the two hour show.

Organised by Dave Kent, a Falklands veteran and colleague Bob Leverett of Williams Court, with sound engineering by Peter Jones, it was one of several fundraising events that the group undertake on a regular basis. The event raised £276 for “Help for Heroes”.

Dave explained that although their fundraising effort was small in relation to the £250 million raised to date by Help for Heroes it was nevertheless important for the morale of those who gave so much for their country and suffered so appallingly. Such fundraising was a constant reminder to them that their efforts will never be forgotten.

With Jenny's repertoire ranging from songs from The Sound of Music and The Beatles to Showboat and Dave's from Jim Reeves through all the great names of Country and Western music, the residents of Williams Court had a most enjoyable afternoon.
