WITH Allan as their intrepid leader, the Wellington Heath Walkers made their way to the top of the ridge at Cwmyoy at the south end of the Llanthony Valley in the Black Mountains, an ascent of just over 1 000 feet. There were no casualties on this walk and all enjoyed a picnic lunch with a splendid view. (See photo by Allan Wood)

The Wellington Heath Singers entertained a lively audience at Leadon Bank on Saturday afternoon. Their repertoire included a variety of songs of different genres, and everyone was invited to join in with a short sing-along at the end.

This weekend is the Queen’s official birthday celebration so be sure to put on your best bib and tucker and your posh hat, and at least sit in your garden and have a cup of tea in her honour.

The 11 June is also Ledbury Day and the town will be buzzing with lots of excitement. Over seventy local groups will be there to show you what happens in Ledbury on a regular basis. The three main centres will be the Burgage Hall, St Katherine’s Hall and the Community Hall, and these will be open from 10am to 2pm.

The service at Christ Church this Sunday is the Family Service at 9.30am. Everyone is welcome. Donations toward the Food Bank are still welcome too.

The Book Club meet at Helen’s house, The Old Vicarage, at 7.30pm this Monday evening.

And a thought to end with from Her Majesty, the Queen: “It has always been easy to hate and destroy. To build and to cherish is much more difficult.”

Have a marvellous week!
