THERE was lots of gardening in progress this weekend past with all that lovely sunshine. We may not have the seaside here but we’ll soon have prize gardens to boast of, especially since many of the villagers gained loads of inspiration from the recent Malvern Spring Festival.

The latest Parish Newsletter (May – July) is now available, thanks to Marc and his team. Thanks to them for their hard work publishing, printing and distributing the newsletter.

Don’t forget to book your place at the Memorial Hall on Saturday, May 21, 3pm -5pm, for an afternoon of entertainment and a delicious tea. ‘Just Joyce’ Hilary Ayling and friends will perform a selection of monologues and sketches, and proceeds go toward Christ Church. Tickets are £8 and are available from Jayne (01531 635277) or Kay (632033).

The service this Sunday at the village church (Christ Church) is Family Communion, 9.30am. All welcome. St Michael’s and All Saints Church in Ledbury will be celebrating Pentecost Sunday with an inter-church ecumenical service at 10.30am.

Next week is Christian Aid Week when a collection will be made in the village. Many thanks to all who have contributed to this cause in the years past. Last year £557 was raised.

And a thought from Abraham Lincoln to end with: “Whatever you are, be a good one.”

Have a splendid week!
