OUT OF SIGHT BUT NOT OUT OF MIND
Yesterday we celebrated the ascension of Jesus into heaven. As Jesus ascends the disciples are castigated for just standing and staring upwards. It is easy for us to stop and ponder Jesus’ return to heaven but to forget what taking his seat in heaven means to us.
He sits at the right hand of God; the right was a place of authority. Jesus has authority over us and we should take note that he is now in place to rule over us. Secondly he promised that when he returned to heaven he would be in the right place to hear our prayers. So we know that we can bombard him with our requests and petitions. Thirdly he promises that when in heaven he will send the life transforming Holy Spirit. Yes our lives can be transformed by the power of God’s spirit if we are only prepared to be open to all he can do for us.
Let’s not stand and stare but rather see how Jesus is ready to transform our lives.
