ON Tuesday we had our monthly meeting, and were expecting a cookery demonstration, but due to illness we had a surprise speaker, Mrs Margaret Roy who spoke about 'A girl called Jim'.

On sorting out a house after a family bereavement, Mrs Roy found fascinating paper work regarding her family going back a century, including a girl called Jim, but really named James for obvious reasons. It showed that we must keep all family papers and let families in the future find out about ourselves. It was a very interesting talk.

Before our tea, our President gave out the usual notices and asked for volunteers for The Hanley Swan Garden Opening on the first Bank Holiday in May. It should be a good weekend only £5 for all three days and 20 gardens to look at.

Our next meeting is on May 10 for our Annual Meeting.
