THERE is a Good Friday Devotion service this afternoon, 3.15pm at Christ Church and the Family Communion service on Sunday is at 9.30am. All welcome. Easter is one of the major celebrations of the Christian faith and both the death and resurrection of Christ are proclaimed. For many people, the Easter weekend heralds the end of ‘sacrificing something pleasurable for Lent’.

The Parish Briefing and Consultation event held last Saturday at the Memorial Hall saw a good turn-out at both the morning and afternoon presentation by the Wellington Heath Neighbourhood Development Plan Working Group. A spokesman said: ‘ The two briefing sessions were informative and questions were few but instructive. The 3D model of the parish was of great interest and complimented the explanatory maps and other information on display. Response from parishioners reference their preference as to where development should occur has begun and those who have not returned their preference response sheet are asked to give it to a NDP working group member.’

It is both frustrating and sad to see that irresponsible people/children have vandalized the play equipment at Pool Piece. Racquets from the box have been broken in half, some of the plastic balls were thrown into the stream, and debris was strewn across the lawned area. How can we prevent this happening?

It was reported that the 675 bus failed to turn up at The Farmers Arms bus stop on Monday afternoon for the usual 1.15pm stop. This caused inconvenience for some folk, and will indeed prove to be cause for anxiety if users of the bus are expecting to get to important appointments. The Herefordshire Transport Council have advised that there may be some changes so if there are any queries, please phone Paul Williamson on 01432 260960.

The Farmers Arms will be open for the Easter weekend, including Monday lunch and evening dinner.

The Craft Group meet this coming Thursday afternoon, 2pm-4pm in the Memorial Hall.

And a thought to end with: ‘It may be Friday, but Sunday’s on the way! A lot can happen in three days.’

Have a good Easter weekend.
