SUNDAY is Valentine’s Day and according to Catholic tradition, there were at least three saints named Valentine, all of whom were martyred. One of them was known as a romantic because he continued to perform marriages for young lovers, even though Emperor Claudius II had decreed that single men made better soldiers and so forbade them to marry.

Christ Church will be holding a Family Service on Valentine’s Day, 9.30am, and all are welcome to attend.

The Farmers Arms are offering some special deals for the weekend, to help with the Valentine celebrations.

The problem with the potholes on the upper Ledbury Road has resurfaced: will this ever be solved? Villagers are advised to drive with caution as the potholes are deepening.
