OUR Christmas Party was very good once again. The table groaned with all the bring and share delicacies spread out for our supper. It never ceases to amaze me how the food always equals out with the right proportions between sweet and savoury. The mulled wine slipped down a treat too. We all shared in the delicious fayre. Afterwards we enjoyed a quiz, which we all muddled through amongst a lot of laughter.

Our post- Christmas lunch is now looked forward to at the Worcestershire Golf Club, which we went to last year and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the lovely food.

Unfortunately our speaker last week was unable to be with us at the last minute. He was going to bring along a Defibrillator and teach us how to use it. Enter the cavalry! Luckily one of our members who had been a police woman during her working life and had been in the St John’s Ambulance for the last twenty six years was willing to step in. She was able to describe the workings of the machine and the ways in which it should be used and where we can find the ones placed in Malvern Wells should the need arise. Unfortunately she was unable to actually show us one, as our speaker would have but her talk was so illuminating that I for one would have no worry about using one and our thanks go to her not only for stepping in but for her very necessary talk.

Next month’s speaker is David Briggs who will describe his childhood in the Pennines.

During the next month we will meet in our Book Group to discuss the book being read by all, our Coffee with Books where we enjoy chatting about any book we happen to be reading at the moment and swapping or giving our books to others to read, our Craft Group will also be meeting, we will be learning the art of making various types of greetings cards, although some will be patch-working ,sewing, knitting or bringing along anything they like to do or even show others who may be interested. Visits are also well subscribed and we have two organised in the next two months. A visit to WI House at Hallow with lunch to follow at the Crown in Hallow and in March, a Guided tour of Great Malvern also with lunch to follow.

We meet on the second Thursday of the month at Malvern Wells Village Hall starting at 7.30pm, we would love to see you there but if you would like to know more please feel free to phone either Trish on 01684 560149 or Lillian on 01684 565556, they will pleased to help with any queries you may have.
