THE Malvern based Children's Charity- Kaleidoscope, celebrated its 21st birthday with a big party on Sunday.

The Charity has been providing one week-end a month respite care for young children with significant special needs for 21 years. Children, both past and present, who have attended Kaleidoscope over the years, plus helpers and supporters, were invited to the party at Osborne Court, Malvern. Some, who had attended Kaleidoscope as very young children, came back as young adults.

About 140 attended over a five hour period and tucked into a delicious running buffet. There was also the chance to enjoy the hydrotherapy pool and a bouncy castle. The party was generously sponsored by Little Oakes Nursery. An enormous birthday cake managed to go round everyone. Photographs from past Kaleidoscope trips and activities were displayed around the room. Diana Maiden, the founder and leader for 21 years, was presented with a basket of flowers by Catherine Wiseman, one of the Charity's earliest children, now a young adult. Dr Andy Mills, local paediatrician and supporter spoke in praise of Diana, receiving rapturous applause. Diana was awarded an MBE in 2006 for her work with Kaleidoscope.

The party was also a way to say a big Thank You to all the individuals, groups and organisations who have supported Kaleidoscope both physically and financially over the 21 years.
