HERE we are into October already and this means that the harvest is being reaped all around us.

The village Harvest Service will be on Sunday, October 18 at 11am in the church, followed by a bring-and-share lunch in the Memorial Hall afterwards. All are welcome to come along to both the service and the lunch to give thanks for our daily bread.

The MacMillan coffee morning held at the Hurley’s home was a great success. Thanks to all who supported this cause.

The wild-flower patch at the cemetery has now been mown in preparation for the new season. Thanks again to the volunteers who keep this area looking tidy.

Don’t forget to book your tickets for the WHADS production, Murdered to Death, at the Memorial Hall on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (October 8, 9 and 10). Adults £8, children £3 and please phone 01531 630005, or email: whads.boxoffice@gmail.com

Our Parents & Toddlers group which meet at the Memorial Hall on a Tuesday morning from 10am–11.30am, are in need of a volunteer to come along and give a hand with the pouring of cool drinks etc. If you have the time and inclination to help, please would you phone Christine Speakman on 01531 633540.

We wait with bated breath to hear if David Darwood and his team have been successful in the final round of the 2015 Biffa Awards, regarding the Pool Piece project. More news later.

And a thought for the week to end with: Says Og Mandino, ‘Always do your best. What you plant now, you will harvest later’, which is a repeat of the exhortation in the book of Galatians Chapter 6: 7 ‘…whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap.’ Have a lovely week!
