MOVES are afoot to obtain a defibrillator (for emergency treatment of cardiac arrest) for the village.

The initiative comes from the Social Club, as a good use for a cash surplus which has been building up from the club's quiz evenings on the second Friday of each month. The idea would be to keep the defibrillator in the phone box by the Village Hall - little used in these days of mobiles – where it would be accessible 24/7 in case of need. Other village organisations, including the WI and WestFest, have expressed an interest in supporting the project and helping to boost the fund to the £1,500 target needed to obtain the equipment.

For their next meeting on Thursday, October 8, West Malvern WI will have a professional teacher putting them through their paces with Yoga For Everyone, whatever their age or ability. All welcome to have a go, no mats required. The WI have also recently joined the Worcestershire WI Skittles League and will be holding practice sessions at the British Legion. Members interested in joining the team, even as standby players, should email captain Jennie Spencer on jennie.spencer2@aol.co.uk.

Actors from West Malvern Players will be starring in a Murder Mystery Evening in aid Guide Dogs for the Blind to be held at Colwall Village Hall on Saturday, October 10 at 7pm. £10 per person including refreshments - up to six people per table. Details from Wendy on 07900 477139. Further ahead, fans of popular local group Colla Voce may wish to note that they will be singing in St James's Church, West Malvern on Saturday, November 14.

And there will be Prize Bingo tomorrow, Saturday September 26, at the Royal British Legion Club, 8.30pm for 8.45pm, all welcome.
